Trying to Score in Ringette All By Yourself? Do This Instead…

Are you or your team having trouble scoring because you’re attacking the net all by yourself just a little too often?

There’s an easy way to break this habit…

It’s simply to realize that scoring goals in ringette is not difficult if you learn how to create 2 on 1s and 1 on 1s instead.

Here’s a great drill that will help you quit the habit of taking too many solo shots on the triangle – guaranteed!

The key to this drill is to place a time limit for the forwards to score from the Hot Spot (20 secs, 15 secs, 10 secs). This will ensure the drill runs quickly with limited standing around.

And, here is a cool progression you can use to really make the drill effective…

Have your team play a 3v3, again only allowing them to shoot from the Hot Spot.

Once all players have had a chance to be defence and offence, discuss if the 3v3 was easier or more difficult to defend than the 1v3.

The 3v3 is more difficult to defend because movement opens up passing lanes. Passing will allow your team to get in the Hot Spot!

Try this today, and let us know what you think.
